Kenneth L. Thornburn

Son of a high-school history teacher, Ken Thornburn says, “Perhaps a little more love of the past rubbed off on me than I expected.” Trained in commercial art, illustration, and photography, Ken taught at Ontario College of Art and worked in the feature and commercial film industry in Toronto before returning to his Bruce County roots. He established Northern Flyer Design in 1991, with a studio and retail store in Tara. His art is familiar through appearing on posters for the International Plowing Match 2008, the Bruce Power restart project 2003, and recently on the cover of Bruce Township Laneways and Landmarks. Ken’s original framed art, numbered prints, and art cards are available in several area outlets.  As well as the art in Bruce Day by Day, Ken has created the cartoons for Tooling Around and drawn covers for several issues of The Leaf. Ken created the cover art for both  Sunset Musings (2021),  More Sunset Musings (2022) and AUTUMN MUSINGS at Sunset (2023).
