Raised on the Bruce Peninsula, Allan Bartley has worked as a journalist for a number of Canadian daily newspapers. His education is in political science and journalism, and his previous publications include Alexander MacNeill, A Political Life. He edited the Lindsay Township history, Proud People.
Now retired from Canadian security agency, he is an adjunct professor in th Department of Political Science at the University of Ottawa.
Allan Bartley spent three years researching military archives and reading family documents in preparation for Heroes in Waiting: The 160th Battalion in the Great War. He has written a book that does not glorify war, but examines its impacts on the lives of ordinary people.
